I was known as Jonas Marlowe when I was a kid.

I decided to buy a camera and start taking pictures in July of 2008.

as part of the Lange Nacht der Musik (“Long Night Of Music”) Festival in Munich, Germany (May 2009),

as part of the Copper Building’s ‘Video Wall’ sponsored by flux.net in downtown Los Angeles, California USA (running indefinitely as of June 2009),

at the ZooArt International Exhibition of Contemporary Art in Cuneo, Italy (July 2009).

In December of 2009 I was approached by Getty Images to become one of their contributing photographers.

and In January of 2010 I was signed by Getty to license my photos for commercial use.

Also, my photos have been published in Seattle Sound Magazine.

Ha Ha. That was me. I think we were trying to break into the Norman Bates house when security caught us.

Kelly Berman (Skaller)January 13, 2009 - 6:41 am

Jonas…look at you as a man! In my mind you (we) are still 16. I’ve been chatting up with Malayna via facebook and she told me where to find you. I hope life has been good to you and would love to catch up. Send me an email- or join the reunion on facebook….lots of Van Nuys friends there…though I haven’t been able to track down Chris. Good to find you though…
Kelly

It’s great to be found, Kelly.

I think it is awesome to see what you have done in your life since you were in “CotC.” It was one of my all time fav movies and I loved your parts in it. So Marlowe was just a stage name? That “True Blood” picture you have of Simone on FlikR reminds me of how you looked in the movie…dark and sinister! You should write a bio for your IMDB page. Thank you for sharing your great talents!

AmericanvirusFebruary 21, 2009 - 1:47 am

Well, thank YOU!

mpMarch 23, 2009 - 10:32 am

Susana G. RomanosApril 13, 2009 - 11:33 pm

Hi Jonas, My name is Susana G. Romanos. I’m in the celesteprize web too but these days I’m having problems with the messages tool so I’ve decided to write throught your blog, I saw it in you video work at celeste. I address to you because I’m doing my thesis about Laurie Anderson’s work focussed on viral allegory, so everything or anything with the word “virus” calls my attention. My question is obvious, why virus? Of course you don’t have to answer, I don’t want to disturb, but I will be very grateful if you do. Greetings.

AmericanvirusApril 15, 2009 - 6:12 pm

To tell you the truth Susana, I didn’t put much thought into it. The name Americanvirus popped into my head one day and I just thought it sounded cool. I’m sorry that that’s probably not much help for your thesis. Anyway, I am a huge fan of William Burroughs and Laurie Anderson. Burroughs says, “Language is a virus from outer space…” and Anderson says, “That’s why I’d rather hear your name than see your face.” Perhaps Anderson is commenting on the viral nature of language over images. Also, images actually inform language, especially in other cultures, like the pictograms of the chinese alphabet. Well… there’s my 2 cents for what it’s worth. Good luck with your thesis!!

I agree with everyone above Jonas. Your creativity is awesome and it’s always cool to see your new projects. I was reading the post by Susana who asked “Why Virus?” So I thought I would put a link to your “Looking Through The Lens” interview on my post in case anyone would like to read it. It is one of my favorite interviews I have done so “Thank You” Jonas! And it gives an amazing insight into your world of photography and creativity!

I think your work is simply fantastic, and am so blessed to have you on liveforfame.com. For my selfish reasons of wanting to see more art out there I created liveforfame to find people like you. I hope you truly know how respected you are, and your passion lives through your work. please.always.stay.hellamega.
