Six years ago today I was in a tiny cubicle within a call center slogging through days of employment as a telemarketer. My job was to sell a product over the phone to people who were usually angry at me for interrupting their day. Most of them did what any reasonable person would do. They hung up on me. I had been at that gig for about four years. My days consisted of work, community college, television, very little sleep, and a sense of mounting anxiousness. I finally decided I needed some kind of creative outlet and I started Americanvirus. My first post read, “I’m thinking this will be a creativity blog, but I’m willing to let it take me wherever it leads.” I bought a camera and started having fun with it!!
I know it’s kind of cliche now for photographers to write on their blogs about how grateful they are! But oh man, I’m so freaking grateful to be out of that cubicle!! Thank you for an amazing six years! And thank you for not hanging up on me.

Gorgeous work, as always. You capture so much joy!
Such a creative post and a lovely way to display your work :)
I wish I knew a non-cheesy way to say this but…. some of these photos really take my breath away! Bravo!
Your work is beautiful! I see and LOVE that old school feel that you go for. It was truly a pleasure to meet and work with you and Mary. Until next time!
