Sometimes I can’t believe how lucky I am to have such an amazing older brother. He’s been incredibly supportive of me. It’s been a blessing in my life to have him as a role model. Curtiss is a freelance cinematographer. Lately he’s been traveling around the world shooting the television show Three Sheets (you can watch episodes HERE), as well as flying around the USA to shoot the A&E reality show Hoarders. For my birthday this year he used the frequent flier points he’s racked up to buy my girlfriend and I plane tickets to New Zealand so we can visit my sister Shawnee who lives there. I can’t believe Mary and I will actually be leaving for New Zealand now in less than two weeks!

On Christmas my family did a secret Santa thing where we only buy one gift for one family member who’s name we pulled earlier from a hat. Curtiss pulled our niece Rikki’s name, but when he saw my Facebook update about my invitation from Getty (see previous post), he went out and bought me a congratulations gift. After everyone had opened their gifts he handed me one more. It was a new Holga with a few rolls of film and a fish eye lens. The crazy thing is, I’d been eyeing that thing for months now. I even posted a photo in July inspired by the Holga photos I’d seen at that time. I’m so stoked about this gift and I can’t wait to start experimenting with it.

Anyway, I really wanted to post something about my brother. He’s pretty much one of the coolest people I know. He continually amazes me with his talent and generosity.

I super loved your brother When I was growing up. Him and my father used to shoot commercials together. For a small kid it was so boring. But Curtiss always seemed to.find a way to make it fun for me.
You have a pretty amazing brother!
