Design For Dreaming

I was asked to participate in a challenge for the clip dub channel on vimeo.com. This is where different film makers and editors use the same archival footage to create different edits. They are encouraged to be creative, re-contextualizing the images, changing the color, and adding music as they see fit. This months challenge was based on archival footage from a 1956 promotional film for General Motors called ‘Design For Dreaming.’ It was a film about what GM felt the near future might be like. I felt the images might look particularly hypnotic and dreamy if they were re-edited to ‘In the backseat’, one of my favorite Arcade Fire songs.

You can view the original GM promotional film here.
